He worked as a Postdoc Research Associate and then Research Assistant Professor in HKUST from 2013 to 2018. Dr. Liu joined Department of Ocean Science and Engineering in the year 2019 as an assistant professor. His research interests are mainly on the processes governing the coupled cross-scale circulation interactions in the northwestern Pacific Ocean and China Seas and numerical model. Dr. Liu has published 9 peer-viewed research papers in Journal of Geophysical Research-oceans and Journal of Physical Oceanography with over 90 citations by 2018 (Google Scholar). Personal Profile Biography Dr. Zhiqiang Liu’s main research is in the area of general circulation and dynamics of the interactive basin-slope-shelf-estuary circulations in China Seas and their multiple-scale variabilities by integrating field observations and numerical models. Dr. Liu has published 8 peer-viewed SCI journal papers, which has been cited over 70 times.
