He also serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Shude College. Dr. Ji has been primarily focusing on developmental neurobiology. He is primarily interested in elucidating different posttranscriptional mechanisms regulating neuronal development, including local protein synthesis in axons and mRNA modification during neuronal development. His lab has become (one of) the most important group(s) studying mRNA modification in regulation of neuronal development and functions in the world. He has also made progresses on studying the roles of retrograde signals derived from target tissues of axon.
