He received his Ph.D degree in Environmental Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on the multi-scale kinetics of the transformation, degradation and transport of contaminants in groundwater and soil systems; the coupled evolution of microbial community and biogeochemical processes; and the technologies for remediating contaminants in soil and groundwater systems, and the synthesis of engineered materials for extracting heavy metals from wastewater.
