He did PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and has formerly worked as a tenured associated professor in the UK. His research interest spans the spatial transformations of urban enviroment and social infrastructure development, with a focus of using empirical methods to inform policy. His work has been published in journals such as Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Regional Science, European Journal of Operational Research,Landscape and Urban Planning, Annals of the Association of American Geographers, and among others. His work has been funded by the Scottish government, ESRC,NSFC and international funding agencies. Apart from his academic works, he has spent time as a consultant expert for the World Bank and other agencies. He has been awarded as the World Social Science Fellow (Big Data in Urban Contexts) by the International Social Science Council in 2015.
