D. candicate students, a dozen of Mater D. candicate students and a few senior undergraduate students. The reasearch in my group are based on the optoelectronics which extends from quantum semiconductor theory to nonlinear fiber optics. Additionally, a classical microwave and other electomagnetic waveband theoretic foundation and technology are building up for prusuing those reseach topics on optical modulation by RF electrical waves or controlling the frequency and phase of light precisely by microwave signals, which are highly demanded in real-time optical sampling systems and optical raging detection systems. Research Projects:PI of the research on generation of frequency linearly chirped optical waves over a broad frequency range for high resolution range detection techniques. The project is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China during 2015-2018. Grant No. 61471256 PI of the research on conversion from WDM to OTDM over broadband using electro-absorption modulators. The project is funded by Tianjin Science and Technology Development Foundation of Tianjin City Council during 2012-2015. Grant No. 12JCZDJC20700 PI of the research on design and fabrication of novel hybrid planar waveguide THz emitters pumped by ultrashort optical pulses at the central wavelength of 1.55 mm based on the optical rectification process in the GaAs core layer. The project is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China during 2011-2013. Grant No. 61072011 PI of the research on direct bonding Nd:YAG/Sapphire double cladding planar waveguide lasers. The project is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China during 2006-2008. Grant No. 60578022PI of the research on tunable multi-wavelength fiber ring lasers in optical communication broadband. The project is funded by Tianjin Science and Technology Development Foundation of Tianjin City Council during 2003-2005. Grant No. 033800411PI of the research on high power Er/Yb-codoped phosphate glass waveguide lasers. The project is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China during 2002-2004.
